MODEL Teams

The Ford Volunteer Corps (FVC) year of service is divided into four seasons. MODEL Teams will participate in seasonal volunteer projects around theme-based destinations. These seasons of service address specific community needs including:

"Promises in Action" Accelerated Action Day
March 13, 2008

On March 13, 2008, Ford Volunteer Corps held the inaugural Accelerated Action Day, focused on strengthening children and families. Approximately 350 Ford volunteers formed 20 MODEL Teams. Those MODEL Teams volunteered at 14 agencies participating in projects from painting and cleaning at child serving agencies to acting as museum docents to young children. The impact of their volunteerism reached close to 100,000 children and families served through these nonprofit agencies.

Accelerated Action Day mini-grants totaling $50,000.00 were awarded to the following nonprofits:

City Mission
Grandmont Rosedale Development Corp.
Penrickton Center for Blind Children
Ruth Ellis Center, Inc.
Salvation Army – Echo Grove Camp
Starfish Family Services
