During this volunteer season of Community Building, a Habitat for Humanity Blitz Build in Detroit is just one of scores of projects planned. Other projects will build and renovate residential facilities, work places, schools, parks, and a variety of nonprofit organizations. Ford employees in the U.S. are encouraged to view projects and register online through the new MODEL Teams system at www.volunteer.ford.com.

Each of the previous Accelerated Action Days have made a measurable impact on communities and individuals in need. Help make September 11 yet another day when the community spirit, big heart and commitment of the employees and retirees of Ford Motor Company are on display for the world to see. Join Ford employees around the world and volunteer during Global Week of Caring, September 6 – 14, 2008 and improve your neighborhood…your community…your country…your planet.

Recruit a Team of coworkers or join an existing project and help build a wheelchair ramp, clean-up a roadside, a river bank or a beach, change light bulbs and install smoke detectors for elderly neighbors, or make a difference in the life of a child or others who are in need. Let your imagination flow and find a project that addresses a specific need in your community. Together, let's show the world we build great automobiles and great communities. Please join us in making the third annual Global Week of Caring a tremendous success and a model of what committed caring people can accomplish together.

TO: All Ford Employees and Retirees
Subject: Third Annual Global Week of Caring

Once again this year I am asking you to participate in the annual Global Week of Caring, September 6 – 14, 2008. You, our employees, are the true face of Ford in all the communities where we live and work.

Last year during this one week, in addition to all the volunteer service you support throughout the year, 14,000 Ford employees volunteered an impressive 34,300 hours on six continents. That means we literally made the world a better place.

During that one week in September 2007 you:

  • organized beach clean-ups
  • collected food on six continents for those in need
  • delivered medical and dental supplies to isolated villages
  • escorted wheelchair confined senior citizens on a day-long field trip to the zoo
  • donated school uniforms to 123 children in an elementary school

There is not another corporation with the generosity and community spirit that Ford employees have. Not only are consumers noticing our exciting new products and our excellent quality and safety ratings, but they are also noticing our continued commitment to the communities where they live.

Find out more about Global Week of Caring 2008 visit www.volunteer.ford.com. This is an exciting opportunity for us to show the world that we are One Ford.

Sincerely,

Bill Ford
